Between twelve and twenty Leadership Tulare participants, representing a cross section of the community from both the public and private sectors, with different ethnic and economic backgrounds, are accepted annually into each class. The selection criteria includes:

• Evidence of a commitment to Tulare's well-being
• A willingness to commit to active participation in non-employment related volunteer activities
• A commitment by employer and family to allow full participation in all scheduled events
• Commitment to attend all scheduled events throughout the year
• Participants must be a minimum of 18 years old
